YAHYA ﷺ

The Story of Yahya ﷺ

Allah blessed Yahya ﷺ with wisdom, purity and righteousness from a young age. He was the son of Zakariyya ﷺ and was chosen by Allah as a prophet. Allah gave him a gentle heart, a strong sense of right and wrong, and a deep devotion to Him.

Allah says:

“O Yahya, hold firmly to the Scripture.” And We gave him wisdom while yet a boy, and affection from Us and purity, and he was mindful of Allah. (Quran 19:12–13)

Yahya ﷺ was devoted to Allah and remained committed to what was right. He did not allow his young age to prevent him from taking his faith seriously. He understood the importance of worshipping Allah, following His guidance and keeping himself away from wrongdoing.

Allah also describes Yahya ﷺ as being kind and dutiful towards his parents:

“And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant.” (Quran 19:14)

His purity was shown not only through his worship, but also through his character. He was gentle, humble and respectful, and he did not allow pride or disobedience to enter his life.

Yahya ﷺ reminds us that purity begins in the heart and is reflected in our choices, behaviour and relationship with Allah. We do not have to wait until we are older to become devoted to Allah. From a young age, we can learn His guidance, develop good character and strive to stay away from what displeases Him.

The story of Yahya ﷺ teaches us that true devotion means keeping Allah at the centre of our lives. It means protecting our hearts, choosing what is good and remaining sincere in our worship and actions.
