YUSUF ﷺ

The Story of Yusuf ﷺ

Allah blessed Yusuf ﷺ with beauty, wisdom and a special ability to understand dreams. From a young age, Yusuf ﷺ was tested when his brothers became jealous of him and plotted against him. They took him away, left him in a well and returned to their father with a false story.

Yusuf ﷺ was later found and taken to Egypt, where he faced further trials. He was falsely accused and imprisoned despite being innocent. Yet through every hardship, Yusuf ﷺ remained patient, trusted Allah and continued to do what was right.

While in prison, Yusuf ﷺ interpreted the dreams of others. Eventually, Allah brought about his release and gave him a position of authority in Egypt. The difficult years that had once seemed like a series of misfortunes became part of Allah's greater plan.

Years later, Yusuf ﷺ was reunited with his brothers. He had every reason to be angry with them, but instead of seeking revenge, he chose forgiveness. He said:

“No blame will there be upon you today. Allah will forgive you.” (Quran 12:92)

Yusuf ﷺ did not allow the pain of what had happened to turn his heart towards bitterness. He forgave those who had wronged him and recognised that Allah had brought good from his difficulties.

The story of Yusuf ﷺ teaches us that resilience means continuing to trust Allah even when life becomes difficult. We may experience betrayal, injustice, loss or hardship, but these experiences do not have to define who we become. Like Yusuf ﷺ, we can remain patient, continue doing what is right and choose forgiveness when we have the opportunity.

Allah says:

“Indeed, whoever is mindful of Allah and is patient, then surely Allah does not allow the reward of the good-doers to be lost.” (Quran 12:90)
